Denny's dropped six restaurants from its locator in one week
Store Closure Watch takes a snapshot of the Denny's store locator every week. Between the August 29 and September 5 snapshots, six restaurants stopped being listed. We re-checked each one on September 8 against the locator as it stands today: the city and state listings no longer include these restaurants. None of the six has been announced as a closure.
Five of the six are in the Twin Cities area: four Minneapolis-St. Paul suburbs plus Hudson, Wisconsin, across the St. Croix River. The sixth is on Kentucky Avenue on the south side of Indianapolis. The Minnesota state listing now shows eight Denny's locations, and none of them are in these four cities.
| Location | Metro | Delisted |

| Maplewood, MN | Minneapolis-St. Paul | Sep 5, 2026 |

| North Branch, MN | Minneapolis-St. Paul (exurban) | Sep 5, 2026 |
| Hudson, WI | Minneapolis-St. Paul (east) | Sep 5, 2026 |
| Indianapolis, IN (Kentucky Avenue) | Indianapolis | Sep 5, 2026 |
Denny's finished a multi-year plan to close more than 150 underperforming restaurants at the end of 2025. By its own count it closed 88 in 2024 and another 70 to 90 in 2025. The company said the pruning lifted franchise average unit volumes by about 5%. Closures have continued in 2026 without a stated target.
A locator delisting is the earliest public trace of a closure. It usually shows up weeks before any local coverage. Two other delistings in the same snapshot, in Buena Park and Norwalk, California, turned out to be the same restaurants relisted under new store numbers, not closures. A third, in Anaheim, appears to be the same case. They are not counted here.
